This is an extended edition of Stephen King’s fifth novel, ‘The Stand’. I didn’t know this when I picked it. J saw two versions of the book, sent me a pic, and I picked this one. I think I liked the cover more.

I must admit, I have no idea how to hold this 1211-page book comfortably. Its formatting is also a bit strange, with text going all the way to the bottom of the page. But that’s alright. I’m glad to live in a day and age where my first read of ‘The Stand’ is the one that the author intended, not the one the publisher wanted.

I can still feel King as a short story writer (even though his second novel, ‘’Salem's Lot’ is written as proper long-form). I would presume he went back to his roots to try out the dark fantasy genre. However, I like how he links the stories and I honestly think he does an excellent job at making each character unique and memorable. I tend to forget names and I sometimes get lost when there are too many people in a book, but so far I’m keeping up. I’ll update you in a few days!
