I kept the idea, I changed the style, and so I defeated the scary writer’s block. I wrote, I deleted, and I wrote again. Today I sat down knowing not only what I want to write, but also how I wanted to write it. 3000 words. 3108 words to be exact.

Now I have to give it a little time and get back to edit it. I’ve asked a few people for feedback to see how everything reads and to make sure that the story makes sense for people who are not myself.

I’m glad I went past my fear of long short stories. Once I decided to go for a modernist style, the story teleported from my brain and onto my laptop (after a day of typing, of course). However, I identified a challenge for novel writing - how do I learn to take breaks while writing? It wasn’t easy to write 3000 words in one day. It will be impossible to write a few hundred pages without break.
