On Fridays, I am studying Literature & Publishing since 1820 (oddly specific, I know), or as most people call it LitPub. During the first semester, the focus is detective fiction as I might have mentioned a while ago when I was reading ‘Henry Dunbar’.

This week we are being introduced to this world with two short stories. The first one, which I just finished, is Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘The Murders in the Rue Morgue’, introducing Monsieur C. Auguste Dupin, an amateur detective and the predecessor of Sherlock. Poe, by the by, is also supposedly the inventor of detective fiction. The second one, which I’ll read after I post this, is Maurice Leblanc’s ‘The Red Silk Scarf’.

I also have to watch some videos in preparation for Friday. I love it when our profs get creative and bring the online into the offline!
