October is a month with many meanings - it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, ‘Spooktober’, ‘inktober’, and also Black History Month. And I started with an awesome book about London, being black, feminism, the LGBTQI+ community, art, adolescence & adulthood, and who knows what else will come up.

Bernardine Evaristo’s ‘Girl, Woman, Other’ tells the story of twelve characters who co-exist in each other’s story. So far I have read Amma’s bit, and now I’m reading about Yazz, her daughter. The next chapter will be about Dominique, who was the co-founder of Bush Women Theatre Company together with Amma.

I love learning about a culture and history that are so different to mine.
