A Sensorial Description of Isolation

The windows are open all day long. It is warm and sunny. It rained a bit this morning so the air was even fresher than usual. The room gets flooded by scents from the outside world. It smells like rain, linden, flowers and, today, like freshly cut grass from the park across the street.

From the park, you hear (and see) dogs having fun and sometimes children. Sometimes you hear the bus passing by and very few cars. Even people running have their own sound - shoes on gravel.

It feels as if all these scents and sounds and pictures are stronger than ever. I wish I could enjoy them from dusk to dawn in my hammock, under a tree, but for now, all I can enjoy are the room and an indirect experience of the outdoors. However, the room is constantly changing too - new scents, new places to read or write. The room is also getting tidier day by day thanks to V.

Now it’s the time to explore your home and your soul and when we’ll go back outside, hopefully, we’ll be able to understand that we need to live in symbiosis with nature, each other and even ourselves.
