Am I throwing a party or writing a novel?

When I write (fiction) I become a character. I have to listen to the music they would listen to, think the way they think, talk the way they talk. And sometimes (like today) I end up picking up my guitar or throwing a mini-party as I write. That’s not Bea, the writer, it’s the character coming to life through me.

I didn’t get to do as much writing as I wanted to do today, but I did get to know M a bit better. When I’ll sit down to write some more tomorrow, I will easily… step into her shoes ;) . I was her for a while. And even though I don’t know what 16-year-olds will listen to in 2039, I hope Foo Fighters will still be part of their playlists because M had a lot of fun working on her homework while blasting The Pretender.

I’m very excited to read this novel. I tend to just let myself go and write so even if I know my overall plot I’m not too sure where every paragraph will be going. I’m not the one writing these things, it’s the characters.
