Romania has a fascinating cultural background of traditions, legends, and myths. We have fantastic creatures and our ancestors, the Dacs, had their own religion, similar to the Ancient Greeks. I have to admit that I start to love this side of Romania more and more.

The first of a long series of spring celebrations, Dragobete is basically the Romanian version of Valentine’s Day. Today is Dragobete - your second chance in case you were busy on Valentine’s. I can’t talk about all the ways people celebrate this day because every area has different traditions. Instead, I will tell you a myth a friend of mine told me three years ago.

“If you kiss someone on Dragobete, you will have someone to kiss all year.”

Of course, you need more than a Dragobete kiss to build a healthy relationship and make it work. However, this is one of my favourite myths and I like to believe it. It came true for me.
