How I missed London Bridge and the Shard and all those old and tall buildings!

The further we travel from home, the more we feel the ‘new normal’ and to be honest, I really don’t mind it. It has a bit of a dystopian feel to it with voices and posters telling you to wear a mask (covering your mouth and nose) and clean your hands, and even more so at the underground where there is usually a strange echo (the bus-voice is friendlier). However, there’s hand sanitizer all over the place and you wear masks, protecting yourself from the air conditioners and later from the cold freezing your nose. Even walking feels safer and it’s more organised - on London Bridge, they introduced pedestrian ‘lanes’ so you always walk on your left.

So far, Central London and the other areas I’ve seen seem safe enough. There are people not wearing masks even on public transport or who do not wear them correctly, yet most people respect safety measures. The pubs are very airy, which makes them more comfortable and calmer. Plus, no tourists mean they’re not as full as usual (although I know that it’s bad for the economy, I know). I hope we’ll be able to avoid or control a second wave without going back into lockdown.
