Was I commissioned to do this? I think ‘commission’ is the right word, yes.

I was commissioned to translate David Greig’s ‘Lanark: A Life in Three Acts’ to Romanian. It took me no more than two days to read it all (I could’ve finished it all in one day, but I had too many other things to do, including an eye test). It was a really messed-up - ‘what is going on?’ - the unexpected happens - type of play - my favourite type. And now I have the honour to translate it.
I started working on it yesterday. This isn’t easy work. I don’t just have to translate it, I also have to make it sound natural. This is where the playwriting experience in my first year of uni comes in handy. It isn’t easy, but it’s fun. You get to become each character to find out what specific word they would use. Can’t wait to see the final result and hopefully 🤞🤞 it will also go on stage.
