Playing golf… at work

I’m working today, not playing golf. I mean, I am, but, you know, it’s for work. Plus, this is not even golf, it’s ‘putting’ - a golfing exercise. But in all honesty, this is why I love the world of youth work and NGOs.

Let me give you a glimpse into this day. The weather outside is absolutely horrendous - it’s nice and sunny one minute, and then it’s pouring rain. Raining with bubbles, as a Romanian saying goes. We’re inside a community centre, in a cosy room, talking to young people about their career plans. And nothing feels more rewarding than that.

The alternative to what I’m doing now would be reading and that’s what I’ll do when I get home. Right now, I’m just happy to be here and later I’ll be happy to wrap myself in a blanket and read.
