I’ve had this idea on my mind since I had to take something downstairs one night and I couldn’t turn on the lights. I was never more careful with my steps. Then I realised that going down a dark staircase can get very nerve-racking if presented properly. I started focusing more and more on my steps and finally, I figured out how to write this short story.
Honestly, I’m scared of stairs. I slipped and tripped and fell multiple times. Sometimes I got hurt, some other times I regained my balance, but I’m never comfortable. If I have to carry something it’s even worse. Add darkness and my eyes that take ages to adapt. I never had a broken bone and I really don’t want to start now.
This story needs your full commitment. Sit down and try to imagine as you’re reading. I hope I’ll manage to increase your heartbeat.
